Fundraising
We run a range of fundraising activities throughout the year. Information about any current fundraising activities can be found in our notices and news section.
Our two main fundraising activities are the Christmas Post delivery and the Model Railway exhibition during the first weekend in January.
If you have any ideas for fundraising or would be willing to help out, please contact Ron Shewry at ron.shewry@talktalk.net.
Christmas Post
The Christmas Post starts in mid November with the delivery of leaflets advertising the post and the model railway exhibition along with leaflets from local businesses.
The next stage is getting the post boxes out to the shops, usually during the last week in November. During the first three weeks of December we collect the cards from the shops and sort them into 60 delivery rounds. In the second and third weeks of December the cards are delivered to the 60 Scouts for delivery around the village.
Each sort ideally needs a minimum of 20 people and each year we deliver up to 10,000 cards.
Model Railway Exhibition
This event, known as Scoutrail takes place during the first weekend in January.
Planning, which starts early in the year involves booking exhibitors and trade stands, printing leaflets and posters and advertising in trade magazines.
The next Scoutrail will be taking place at Exeter Hall on 7th and 8th January 2012, between 10am and 4.30pm. Click on the thumbnail for a full size image of the poster or click here to open a PDF.
