Section Leader - New Scout Troop

posted Nov 19, 2015, 5:54 AM by Kidlington Scout Group   [ updated Apr 25, 2016, 4:51 AM ]

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a Scout troop from scratch.

Kidlington is a growing group offering first class Scouting to a large number of members. We want to open a third Scout troop so that we can offer places to more young people in and around Kidlington.
We have a large support network of experienced leaders and a full executive committee, so you will have plenty of help setting up the troop.

The troop will be based at our large, well maintained headquarters in Blenheim Road, Kidlington, with access to to good quality equipment.

Our headquarters are set back from the road with a large outside space, and there is plenty of room inside for sleepovers.

The unit will be our third Scout troop as we already have thriving Sea Scout and Land Scout troops. The new unit could be for Land, Sea or Air Scouts, depending on the background of the new leader.Who should apply?
Someone with experience of being a Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader.

What is involved?
  • Planning and running weekly meetings, with the help and support of other leaders and members of Kidlington Scout Group.
  • Attending Leaders meetings every two months.
  • Ensure young people get the chance to participate in the Scout Association's award scheme.
Where and when?
Meetings will be held at our large HQ in Blenheim Road, Kidlington. Day and time negotiable.
We also have a fantastic boating base in Wolvercote.

How will I be supported?
Our Scout Group has a strong support team that enables our leaders to concentrate on doing what they do best: leading their units.
In addition to the support team, we have many experienced leaders in our existing Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Units who are on hand to help.
Training/mentoring can be provided as required.
