Detailed information
Arrival & Departure Times
- Friday night arrivals (Cubs, Scouts, Explorers): 7.30pm
- Saturday morning arrivals (Beavers): 8.45am
- Saturday evening departures (Saturday Beavers): 7pm
- Sunday afternoon departures (all): 4pm
The site will be very busy with other groups arriving at the same time: please car share as far as possible. When you arrive look out for someone wearing a Group scarf who will be able to direct you to our camping area (this will be away from the parking area, so make sure that kit is packed as compactly as possible). Please arrive as close to the time specified above as possible: do not arrive before as there won’t be anyone available to meet you. We will ask an adult to sign in every young person as they are dropped off, so please ensure that you do this when you arrive.
The Sunday afternoon is likely to be fairly chaotic, with several thousand young people being collected at the same time. Please come and find us when you are able to park and just remain patient when trying to leave the site: anticipate that the process could take some time! For Beavers being collected on Saturday evening, please park and walk over to our campsite to pick up your Beaver. We will ask an adult to sign out every young person before the leave, so please ensure that you do this when picking up.
We would welcome any parent assistance back at the Scout Centre to help unload vehicles and to return camping equipment back to into the stores (or hang tents out to dry).

Equipment Notes
- Packing: Please get your young person to pack their own kit: this way they will know where everything is and the leaders will have to spend less time tracking down torches/pyjamas/toothbrushes in the dark!
- Plate bag: A plate bag is an essential item to contain cutlery, plates, tea towel etc preventing them from getting lost and keeping items clean and away from insects etc. Plate bags should have a drawstring and be clearly named.
- Warm clothing: A series of thin layers are warmer than a single thick layer. Air trapped between layers serves as additional insulation. Do not forget your hands and head.
- Torch: Pack your torch so it can be easily accessed. Good practice is to pack batteries separately (or insert in reverse) to prevent being switched on accidentally whilst packed.
- Electronics: Please do not bring any expensive electronic items that may get lost or damaged (eg mobile phone, CD player, MP3 player, Nintendo DS, PSP)
- Snacks in kit: Please do not put any sweets/snacks in bags: they are not allowed to have these in their sleeping quarters (they cause fights, leave mess and can attract insects/rodents). If any such items are found will be confiscated.
- Pocket Knives: Although an essential part of Scout camping kit, on this occasion pocket knives are not required. Please leave them at home.
Ensure all personal belongings are clearly named. Identification on plates, cutlery, mugs, drinks bottle and tea towel will need to be water resistant (engraved or painted where appropriate. Sticky tape, or nail varnish dots are not suitable). These items are always being lost or mixed up during camps due to lack of naming!
