What are Group Supporters?
A Group Supporter is for anyone over the age of 18 years and is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader. Group Supporters can take up as much or as little time as the volunteer wishes.
Do I already need to know about Scouting?
There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.
What sort of things would I be doing?
The Group Supporters provide a resource for the Group to use as required. This could include:
- Taking part in grounds and buildings maintenance days
- Regular grass cutting or cleaning the Scout Centre
- Web site maintenance
- PR
- Helping organise fundraising events
If you are keen to get involved in some other way you will be very welcome to join. For example, you may be willing to provide extra support at events, offer catering services on camp, be available as an occasional helper if regular helpers are absent, or you may have particular skills that you would like to share with young people.
