Leader and Executive Committee Meetings

All leaders are welcome to attend the Group leader and Executive Committee meetings.

Executive Committee meetings

The Executive Committee meets once every two months, usually in September, November, January, March, May and July. The purpose of the Executive Committee is to make decisions and carry out administrative tasks in the best interests of the young people in the Group.

The agenda includes issues relating to: the recruitment of adults and young people; buildings and equipment; and finances and fundraising. All appointed leaders are able to sit on the Executive Committee if they wish to do so; each section is encouraged to have at least one representative at meetings.

The Group Annual General Meeting usually takes place in May. This is a public meeting, with all volunteers and parents invited to attend.

Leaders’ meetings

The leaders’ meetings usually take place a week or two before each Executive Committee meeting. These meetings are open to all volunteers and each section is encouraged to have at least one representative at meetings.

The purpose of these meetings is to allow the volunteers to discuss issues which impact on the running of the sections. The agenda includes matters such as: upcoming camps and events; use of databases (Compass and Online Scout Manager); moving on young people; and safety in Scouting.
